Tin foil heating hack to keep your house warm this winter

Jun 07, 2023

A savvy woman has shared an efficient money-saving hack to combat increasing energy bills - and it uses a household item that might be in the back of your cupboard and won't cosy money

As the colder months creep in, many Brits will be worried about how they are going to afford to heat up their homes amid hiked energy bill prices and soaring inflation rates. Keeping warm is a health necessity, yet the cost of living crisis is forcing people to look for ways to keep our homes cosy without blasting the central heating for long periods.

In a bid to combat the costly prices, a savvy woman has brought to light an old but classic hack to make extra heat from your radiators using a common household item. While some people have sworn by the tin foil tip for over 20 years, others have admitted that they've only just discovered the money-saving tip.

The woman took to popular video-streaming service TikTok to show how you can boost a radiator's temperature without spending more on your bills.

The first piece of advice uses a common household item - so it most likely won't cost you anything to give it a go. Otherwise, it should cost no more than 68p from popular supermarkets.

After you tear a chunky bit of foil off, you simply place it behind the radiator and then put your feet up to enjoy the added warmth.

The woman explained: "Grab your foil, tear a healthy bit off, shove it behind a radiator, and enjoy the extra heat!"

The TikToker admitted that gas companies are "going to hate this life hack ", but was keen to share it with struggling homeowners and renters regardless.

They added: "We understand it’s an old hack, but people need this now more than ever! For those who can't afford radiators, we have a whole page of other hacks!"

More than two million people watched the insightful video, with over 100,000 liking it and some saying they'd tried it out.

Taking to the comments, budding users gushed over the efficient hack, with one person admitting: "I've done this for 22 years and change the foil every four weeks."

"I started this last year and omg. The best thing everrrr," a second added.

Another wrote: "THANK YOU OMG IM DOING THIS."

A different user claimed: "Old school hack it works though. Some people even put it behind their Wi-Fi to extend the signal."
